Scarlet travels on Captain Mountainglade's airship to Aelfhem, with Roho the healer and two mercenaries: Sludge the Earth Mage, and a Khatta warrioress. Kensington comes along as well, though he opts to wing the last distance rather than riding on a balloon that is trying to avoid the attention of a rampant dragon. A distraction is arranged so that the balloon can safely land in the valley without getting attacked by the rampaging three-headed dragoness that destroyed the pirate airship that attacked earlier. They are met by several Aelfin, including the Winterhind, and Scarlet leads her group up to Sacred Mountain.
