Elise loses consciousness, and goes through a period of delirium, only much later becoming coherent again to find herself in the infirmary at Caroban. She learns that she was rescued from Mount Rephath, and that she has been bedridden in the meantime. Her right leg is not expected to completely heal, and for the time being, she is confined to a wheelchair. She also learns that two other members of the special strike force – Mage Stalker, and Nyff – died, though the mission itself was a success. On a lighter note, Fyiara has Elise taken out for a special surprise: she discovers that the winged drokars, Mystery and Secrets, are in fact real, creations of the College, and they are presented to Elise as gifts, in gratitude of her part in helping to end the plot of the Royal Babelite Mages.
