The suite prepared by Gwyneth is filled to capacity, when Demes Oresta's brother Faresk has the audacity to move his items into it as well, manipulating Demes' familial ties and sentimentality. Demes, however, is no fool, and while dealings are going on with the Emir, and it becomes obvious that Faresk is intent upon upstaging Demes at every turn, the orange-and-black Khatta enlists Chiri and Josef to find the best vanderat in the city to offer to the Emir, sending X along with them to assist. Chiri and Josef find an ex-vanderat trainer, a Zerda named Kella, and get his help in order to find the best vanderat in the city, though negotiations still take some work. Meanwhile, X acts as a decoy, while some of Faresk's thugs appear, intent on thwarting whatever plans Demes has in mind
