Chiri, Josef, and Sasta decide to go down into Abu Dhabi to find amusement for a day's holiday; Sasta sets her eye on Chiri's earring from the Prince Salahin, and makes several efforts to get Chiri into betting on it. X appears briefly, confronted by a woman from his past that he might have had a son by, but does not find out if Little Reed is truly his son; Josef gives up on counting to thirty. At the vanderat race tracks, Arcadia makes an appearance as well, amazing Sasta and causing some mild consternation. Chiri and Sasta eventually discover that they have both had some experience with pirating and Chiri offers to buy Sasta dinner
