In the City of Hands, Zoltan arrives with his two cubs, and accompanied by the Priest-Queen Third-Vision, and her sister, Moon-Brow. They travel to the palace, where Third-Vision catches up on business, and Zoltan is reunited with the Kurais – Duchess Eve Kurai and her big brother, Feli "Jynx" Kurai, arrived from Sylvania. They exchange tales, and then it's time for the ritual to begin. Zoltan requests that Eve take his cubs out to play, and Eve is happy to oblige, to show off her airship.

The ritual takes several hours, and then images form, showing the sky island known as Fetiss – held by the Nagai Empire. Apparently the "boomer" is located here. This is not considered good news, for it's no secret that the Nagai Empire has problems with the City of Hands. Zoltan and Jynx discuss how they might go about dealing with this threat, and how the news will be presented to Rephidim Temple.

Eve and the others return, and Eve has a special request of Jynx – Apparently, some Savanites from the City would be interested in moving to Sylvania. While Eve has the title (Duchess), Jynx owns the land, so Eve asks his permission for some Savanites to move in. (There is no slavery there, after all.) Jynx agrees, and finds out that quite a few may be moving there. As Eve puts it, "It might not be Blackshire Village anymore!"
