Elise goes to the Guild Hall of Babel, where she meets with Cyprian, and asks for his help in determining whether she has any sort of curse upon her, placed by the Yodhbarada that she slew. He summons a scrying mage, Abeliara, who pronounces Elise free from any scrying dweomers. Elise explains just why she thinks she earned a curse from a Yodhbarada, prompting some signs of discomfort in the mages. Abeliara leaves, and when Elise goes to Cyprian, he pulls away. When Elise wants to know why, Cyprian suggests that he isn't sure what to think of Elise anymore – that she speaks of killing a Yodhbarada as casually as if she were talking about going to the market. Elise tries to make light of it, though her jest does nothing to comfort Cyprian.
