Envoy has recovered from her wounds suffered the previous night. She and Roho go into the cabin and question "Scarlet" about her actions. It is verified that "Scarlet" is indeed Cryona, who is still in possession of her own mind, though she received some of Mage Scarlet's memories, and was subjected to a "life bond" with a fuff'nar that was also present at the ritual. If the fuff'nar is killed, Cryona will die as well, and this is the way that her "benefactors" keep her in line – She was sent out to impersonate Scarlet and to sabotage the ceremony, having some magical energies stored in her for the purpose of being able to cast a few spells to play the role, though she has no spellcasting ability on her own.
