In Caroban, Elise is observing the Guy Fox Day festivities, when there is suddenly a wave of pleasure that briefly washes over all present. The obviously unnatural occurrence is at first attributed to Mind Mages, but Elise is sent to investigate, since the mages present admit to no knowledge of what has just transpired. Elise checks on Envoy and finds that she has awakened, and that several mages – most of them from the Caroban Watch, which guards against abuses of magic there – have converged on her position. Envoy speaks in rapturous tones of her transformation into the Avatar of Inala, though Elise is not quite so happy about this turn of events. Envoy is led off by the Caroban Watch to their headquarters, and along the way they are intercepted by Dean Ssirithiri and Mage Yffryn of the Sphere of Dream, who insist on coming along. Dean Ssirithiri questions Envoy back at Watch Headquarters, while Elise claims to be ill, and departs another way.
