Kani is called to Bridge Officer Nimiss' office, where he is informed of the exploits of the Wooden Shekel – also known as Tugsley Pines – and the raid of the Moffat papers. Kani is also informed that he may be a target, since he holds the one remaining folder on the case. Kani proposes that he go "underground" for a while, to continue his investigation.
