Envoy dreams again, finding herself at the Hall of Mirrors in the Carnival of Inala, having a golden pass that is to take her to Paradise … though she has to navigate this strange maze first to get there. As she goes through, she encounters a reflection of the fop-fox, who sings her a song of warning, and finds one mirror that does not reflect her own image, and another that has been shattered. At last, Envoy reverts from her Dragon Aspect to an image of her true self, and the fop-fox appears again with another rhyming riddle, warning her of the dangers of the maze, and how Elise has fallen to them already.

Envoy encounters Elise's Warrior Aspect, who seems intent on getting rid of the Lady Aspect. Envoy urges the Warrior to accept all of her Aspects, just as Envoy has dealt with hers – even the Probe. Together, they head off in search of Lady Elise and some way of unifying Elise's Aspects once more.
