In the Dream Realm, Envoy finds that all of the gateways from the Crossroads have vanished save those of Sunala and Inala. She goes to Morpheus' prison, and discusses what has transpired with him, and tries to find out what can be done to stop the Royal Babelite Mages. She then goes back to the Crossroads, and notices that there is a tower in the former ring of mountains (of which only Inala's and Sunala's remain). She concentrates and finds a way to the tower, and works her way up a path on its outside, without flying, and bypasses several challenges. At last, she enters the tower, where she finds a giant representation of the High Princess Saraizadze … but no sooner does she make this discovery, then the image "awakens", and a blinding light comes from its eyes.

Envoy wakes up, to find that she has overslept (a rarity for her, except when the Dream Realm is involved). She hurriedly gets up, and finds Gusty, the Air Mage, and warns him about her theories about the High Princess's plot, and that the Guild Hall might be attacked. She bids him to get word to Caroban about this latest development.
