Elise is invited to a Ring Day celebration at the di Medici estate, thanks to Lord Dunbarre. She is somewhat self-conscious about the possibility that some of the nobles might be talking about her, and makes her way along through the garden, finding Lord Dunbarre weathering a lengthy recitation of some 398 varieties of flowers to be found in the garden by a son of the di Medici family. Under a pretense of catching Captain Le Guire, Lord Dunbarre and Elise pull away, and privately discuss a few things.
