Brishen, having led a riotous crowd to the Palace, faces the Sabaoth amidst his harem, and faces him in battle. She prevails, but suffers a grievous wound. When she comes to, she finds that Thath has returned … along with Boghaz bar Sabaoth, the son of the Sabaoth, who is now staking his claim as heir – as "High Prince" of Babel. Brishen is healed through the aid of life mages, and is given a special recognition for her role – as ambassador to Rephidim.
