Envoy and Elise dream of exploring Blakat's realm once more, and encounter the fop fox. The fox sings them a song of warning, and then leaves them to travel. They find two sets of stairs – one leading up, the other down. They wish to go up, but judging by the hints in the song that suggest that they can't trust what they see, they choose to go "down", only to find that the staircase actually takes them upward. They eventually come to a room that defies logic, where walls become floors and floors become ceilings, and stairs go every which way, making the head hurt to try to make any sense of it. Envoy and Elise navigate their way through this strange area, following a non-morphic cat into a darkened corridor. There, they explore along, encountering what looks like a giant centipede-like creature up ahead … though their ears tell them that it's actually behind them. Elise rushes forward, and discovers that the image of the bug seems to go further away as she "approaches" it … suggesting that the true bug is actually behind her. Elise and Envoy try to flee the bug, but it gains on them. They battle it, but Elise is dealt a fatal wound, and expires despite Envoy's attempt to save her.
