Elise receives a letter of apology from Cyprian, and then meets with him to discuss what happened, and the strange dreams they've both had about reliving the event in question. Cyprian examines Elise's amulet and determines that it is a fake. Together, they go to visit the Dean of Dreams and confront her about the false amulet. She claims that she had created false copies of the amulet, and then indicates that she gave one to Elise as part of an experiment, treating it as a "placebo", in an attempt to determine its relationship to the Dream Realm. Elise forgives Yffryn, but Cyprian is not so easily placated.
