Chiaroscuro weathers out a storm in the abandoned shelter on the mountaintop, and encounters a bat-like visitor, Prince Boghaz bar Sabaoth. After the storm, the bat leaves, and the mongoose goes hunting for dinner … and spots a spider-like creature with odd habits that prompt him to follow. Chiaroscuro recovers his Rikkorrel, and the bats return, to bear the mongoose on to a great city – the City of Babel, where he is treated as an honored guest in the court of the Sabaoth.
