Elise is left behind the hunting party, as her n'gyah gets its hoof stuck in the foliage. By the time she gets her mount free, she hears sounds of pursuit, and goes to investigate. She spies a cuirassier being chased by two undead warriors on drokar-back. Elise's mount bolts, and Elise is left to face the warriors on her own, using her sword to take down one of the rotting mounts, then finishing off the fallen zombie rider, while the other rider makes a pass at her. The knight returns and dispatches the second undead drokar rider, and they disable then burn the bodies.
