Envoy is tended to by a young priestess who introduces herself as "Ghaz-Kutsuk", meaning "Worth Nothing (any longer)" She is a Yodhinala whose face was marred during the attack on Envoy's airship, and therefore since she is considered no longer beautiful, she is to be "disposed of". Envoy tries to persuade Ghaz-Kutsuk to flee, rather than to accept this fate, though she has considerable difficulty communicating, since she can hardly control her own body at all, and can only barely speak, though she slowly gets better at it.
High Priestess Gariazadze shows up to gloat, and to deliver an obligatory offer courtesy of Inala for Envoy to become a priestess. Envoy, not surprisingly, refuses the offer. Envoy, in an act of defiance, insults the gloating High Priestess, who then responds by condemning Ghaz-Kutsuk to a particularly gruesome death, letting Envoy know that it's "all (her) fault". Envoy is offered a few requests of what she needs to make herself comfortable. Among them, she asks for Wynona unharmed to assist her, and also for Ghaz-Kutsuk as well. This infuriates Gariazadze, but she complies for the time being.
