In the realm of Gorphat, Elise and Envoy continue along the path Elise helps to pull the carriage with several sickly Eeee, while Envoy walks along, using her Earth Magic (which actually works in this realm) to make the going easier. As they continue, they find that, up ahead, the way turns into a jungle, and Envoy scouts ahead, finding blood flies. Blood flies are attracted to open wounds, so Envoy tries a desperate move to make "armor" of mud to cover the wounds of the carriage bearers. The mud is full of filth, and almost certain to prompt even more infections, but it is preferable, they reason, to being devoured alive by blood flies.
After this protection is applied, Envoy and Elise abruptly awaken, finding themselves back in the real world, being observed by Yffryn, the Dream Mage. Elise argues with the mage to put her back to sleep, but Yffryn is reluctant, noting that she doesn't fully understand what is going on here, and that forcing Elise asleep by artificial means may have detrimental effects. Elise finds that she has a puffy spot on her muzzle where the wound in her dream was suffered, and a Life Mage is summoned to tend to whatever effect Elise might be suffering as a result.
