Elise returns to Rephidim, though she is still severely wounded and in need of treatment. Dominic haut Glas has died on the return trip, and Lord Grant de Ayde is in critical condition, being treated by Life mages at the Temple Infirmary. Elise insists on seeing a representative of the Temple about recent events, though at the late hour it is difficult to find anyone of sufficient authority to please her. Katherine, however, tired of Elise's stubbornness, fetches some interns to haul her away for examination of her injuries.
