Feli "Jynx" Kurai arrives at the Rephidim Docks, to find a bored-looking poodle holding a card, waiting for "Feli Kurai". The Khatta approaches the poodle, identifies himself, and is taken away in a carriage, given a chance to have a hearty breakfast and clean up on the way.

The carriage rolls around to the back of Alysin's Auction House, where Jynx is greeted by a Lapi and Kattha who proceed to pamper the Khatta, oiling his fur, shining his nails, even whitening his teeth. Then, Jynx is ushered on out … where he finds himself on stage! He's in a play … about himself! (The facts are a bit off, though.)

Jynx fumbles his way through the play, being shown cue cards by Gnarr the Titanian. During the intermission break, Jynx finds out that his little sister, Eve, has inherited the title of "Duchess" from her Great-Aunt Alysin … along with the old auction/opera house, a townhouse, and a considerable sum of money, too. Eve wrote a play about her big brother … and Jynx was mistaken for the actor who was coming in to play the part.

Jynx demands to see Eve immediately, and his little sister is overjoyed to see that he has returned.
