Elise has a disturbing dream, and then returns to the business of questioning her captive – an Eeee caught in Darkside loudly bragging about having helped kidnap Katherine – about who hired him. She is interrupted by a letter that arrives from Lord haut Glas, indicating that he has a lead on where Katherine is being held, and intends to rescue her. Elise rushes to the scene, but finds haut Glas's men searching the site in vain – the tip had been false.

Back at the de Bellefeuille Estate, Elise questions the bat further, and finally resorts to torture to get information out of him.
