On Caroban, the sky island housing the College Esoterica, Envoy is visited by Cyprian – the bat also known in the Dream Realm as the Mystic. An alarm blares, warning of the arrival of a damaged airship. It is the Vision of Battle, the ship Elise is riding on, and air mages work busily to help it into port, while Cyprian and Envoy anxiously watch its arrival – and see Elise departing from the vessel.
