On the campus of the Officers' Academy in Rephidim, Elise converses with her Nagai mentor, Advisor Bryant Tremaine, until they are interrupted by a rude poodle noble by the name of Eustace do Varr. Eustace casts aspersions upon the loyalties of Elise's mentor, on account of his species as a Naga, and the recent troubles with the Nagai Empire. When his accusations are rebuffed, and Elise "innocently" tries to shift the topic to scholastic matters, Eustace becomes increasingly offended, and challenges Elise to a duel. Rather than accepting, Elise backs down and plays the peacemaker. Eustace, further humiliated by the whole affair, retreats.
