Envoy meets with a Yodhbarada, delivering the scroll she was given by the "priest of Rinala" in the Undercity. She asks that, as payment, she be allowed to know what's on the scroll. The Yodhbarada declines, but instead offers her some useful information: how she might regain her magical powers. Envoy is told of four different ways she might regain her power. One of them involves a riddle of how she might obtain some components – Toward that end, she meets with an oracle to get the riddle … and then wakes up in bed. Was the oracle real at all? Did the Yodhbarada really visit? Envoy's memory is unclear on that point.
