In the wake of Rookery's freedom, much has returned to almost normalcy – including Lilac. Free of her curse, the burden of its hold on her heart is no more. However, without her beast to protect her, the bardess faces a dangerous world filled with enemies she is no longer able to protect herself and others from. Knowing her friend's vulnerability Umeko, with Xander assisting, begins the process of teaching the young human how to fight. Although nervous and still shaken, Lilac agrees to do her best and try to overcome her fears and weaknesses as a combatant.
