Wyn arrives in bitter, freezing snow and is rescued by kindly Solus who nurse her back to health. They see her aboard an airship that comes in answer to the Exile signal – but the airshippers turn out to be pirates, who enslave Wyn and sell her to a lion noble who intends to use her as prey in a live hunt. She successfully kills the lion instead and makes good her escape, still unable to speak the language… But at least free
