Esther and Vielanika find a marvelous creature, an 'Aeolun', at Kalamazak's Travelling Circus and decide to rescue her after witnessing her singing and her ability to learn words. Kalamazak, however, is reluctant to let her go for anything less than a vast quantity of gold… Later that night, Vielanika steals Envoy out of her cage and Esther argues with her over the matter of Envoy's processing fee – the matter is finally resolved when the bat bard gives in and hands over a gold…
