The spirit-crystals are taken to Natasha's wagon, where she does a bit of research. Olivia carries them over, and then has to break up a fight between Leni and Gunther – who have a creepy habit of saying things at the same time.

Natasha has the brilliant idea of sending Gunther to watch the arrested priest, thus freeing her, Olivia and Leni to find a spot to release the spirits. Natasha leads them up Milk Run Road, until she finds a nice spot with some boulders. Olivia summons Buffy (and has to explain to Leni that she isn't a monster) while Natasha prepares a circle in the grass. The crystals are set out along the circle, and the ritual begins.

At the appropriate point, Natasha has the others join in with her singing and the mood lifts considerably – the land around them seems to wake up, and cheer up as well. The spirits are released, free to return to the land or to their homes. The final one to linger is Rainer, Leni's brother. He gives her messages for his family, and agrees to stay and help Buffy with the spirit-orphans she's collected.
