Over drinks at the Inn, Tulani and Arkold (who is oddly nervous around the Duchess) give a brief explanation of what they're looking for, and how it was last in the possession of Duke Phelix the First. Eve invites them back to the castle to see if the piece is still there, and Tulani agrees to ride back with the Duchess on her motor-carriage while Arkold jobs behind with Oops and Uh-oh, the Titanian brothers.

At the castle, Eve excuses herself to clean up, while Ysnor attends to Tulani and Arkold. He remembers seeing a piece of metal like the one they show him, and recalls giving it to the cook to use for slicing cheese.

Taken to the kitchen, the pair learn from the Titanian cook that her youngest son, Shaddup, gave the piece away to a brown-haired Savanite from Kurai Village. Getting directions from Ysnor, they head back towards the train station after Arkold gives the Skreek a special message of apology to give to Eve.

At the station, they encounter a black-furred, white-haired Eeee named Alptraum, who has been away for over a year. He is also heading for the Savanite village to ask about his family and the other gypsies that were staying nearby when he last left, and he also knows Savanite Sign. The trio agree to go on together to the village before night falls.
