Lakshmi and Skye search for places where the creature known as the "whispa" might be sheltering from the floods, and settle upon a larger island deeper into the flood-plain. There, they set up camp. That evening, Skye spots an odd light, and they investigate, finding a Kiriga named Uriah at a smouldering campfire. Uriah tells Lakshmi many facts about the whispa, in exchange for a promise that she will deliver a message to the Kiriga's wife, Zenith, at Truffle Hill. Skye has a funny feeling about this whole encounter.
