Envoy and Reynard, after conferring over a proper means of proceeding, perform the finale of the "Chi Maria" play that Envoy starred in back in Rephidim, though sprucing it up with better effects and more Babelite fare, since that's possible in the dream realm. After they finish, Inala announces that Envoy is the winner … and Reynard is dragged off to Gorphat's realm as the loser. Envoy finds herself requesting that she be granted the privilege of being Inala's avatar … and she's granted this wish … whether she really wants it or not.
