While checking up on Mage Qing, Morgan apologizes for not being able to help with the ritual involving Bravil, since the fight with the spirit of Valicross drained him more than he thought. This leads to him spilling his feelings of weakness and helplessness in the face of such powerful magics, where witchcraft which is subtle instead of powerful isn't of much use.
Qing explains that Morgan isn't weak, he just doesn't know yet how to best apply his strength. He also explains that necromancy is just another field of Spirit Magic, without intent or evil purpose that he himself is a necromancer (while Natasha is more of a warder, but still quite familiar with necromancy). Morgan is shocked by this, after all he's been brought up to believe.
Qing recommends that Morgan seek out formal training on Caroban, as he has the needed talent. The Kadie lists all of the reasons that isn't likely to happen, and suddenly asks Qing if he would teach him.
