After an odd dream that reminds Anisa of her time dealing with The Node back in Levitha's Pearl, Anisa awakens to find someone outside her window. She's happily surprised to behold Wanda, her Skeek friend from that odd adventure, and hurries to greet her.

Wanda comes with a letter from Gibson and lets Anisa know that the Curators are on the move once more. The Lapi grabs her weapons and goes with Wanda to the office of Jervis Tinsnip, who Gibson wants her to contact.

When the two women arrive, however, someone is already going through the scholar's things, and Anisa attacks!
