Concerned for her troops, Umeko ventures to the meeting hall of Viper's Hold, currently in use as an infirmary for the soldiers. She expresses heartfelt appreciation for the living and dead, walking among the bodies and speaking briefly with the resident kssh'atga. Meanwhile, Mage Xander has done his best to keep the the the wounded warm through magic; Lilac just seems nauseous as she's unable to stomach so much blood after her ordeals. Later, Umeko decides to attempt to locate her savanite friend with Lilac's help, with the lapi remaining behind to tend to the wounded. Umeko and Long-Shadow share a tender moment, discussing their concern for each other and the situation. Eventually, with Long-Shadow under Umeko's protection, the two decide to return to town.
