Still exploring the Pearl, Anisa and her friends encounter a deadly trap, which wounds Wanda while they're investigating it. Anisa succeeds in disarming the trap, and they move on, only to be surrounded by diminutive versions of common Sinai peoples, who insist that Anisa and her comrades accompany them, so that it may be judged whether they may pass unharmed … or whether they are threats.
