Gergesene recieves a summons from both Baron Phelan and Lord Ruthven. As Steinhardt practices with Amruk, the Korv confers with the other knights, and Jonas, and decides they should all see Ruthven. Gergesene shares his knowledge of events with Jonas and the Landsknechts during the carriage ride to the palace. Steinhardt keeps quiet on some events he was involved with. The interview with Ruthven goes smoothly. The lord explains some of the recent events in the parliament, and his reasons for wanting to keep Jael out of them. The Landsknechts request that Jonas, a Law Keeper in his homeland, be given Peace Officer status in Chrontopia so he will be able to assist them, should someone in a high position need to be arrested. Ruthven agrees, and then is stabbed in the chest by a Khatta assassin. Fadyr stares at the bloodless wound in Ruthven's chest, while the others capture and subdue the assassin. Ruthven removes the knife, and waves off a healer, then Fadyr collapses after picking up the blade. The young Landsknecht has a strange vision where he is dragged to a bone tower in Bosch, then awakens. Ruthven excuses himself and the other Landsknechts prepare to take the raving assassin to be interogated
