In the Old Cemetary, Envoy has been keeping a watch out for ghosts for quite some time now. This night, she is perched on top of the Aeonian statue near the Embassy grounds. At last, she sees an apparition that introduces itself as Amaranth, and makes various threats against Envoy, but disappears when an Embassy guard comes to investigate.

Next, some time later, Wyckyd shows up and tells Envoy of his latest plot to thwart his "arch-nemesis" Fenter, though Envoy quickly points out a significant hole in the plan. Again, an Embassy guard comes to investigate, but Wyckyd is already gone.

Even later, the backwards-talking Skreek from the Asylum, Sdrawkcab, comes through the Cemetary, ritually putting down several bugs and grubs near Kame's wall-painting in front of Envoy. Another guard comes to investigate, but Sdrawkcab is already gone.

At last, the statue that Envoy is perched on shifts and slides sideways, and a cheetah head pokes out. It's Kame Ikata! And he's quite alive. Envoy surprises him, and he agrees to show Envoy what's inside the secret passage – some long-forgotten maintenance accesses underneath the Old Cemetary. There, Kame has been hiding and painting the walls, making his latest masterpiece: a collage of "portraits" of various persons buried in the Old Cemetary. He agrees to let Envoy roam about the passages as she pleases, and she offers to bring food and paints for the artist.
