Alptraum and Arkold enter the frozen-in-time realm of the Echo of Vorgulremik's death, and are both a bit uncomfortable there, where they seem to be the only things that are real. They set out exploring the huge corpse of the dragon where it lays on a crushed palace, and find another dragon atop his chest that also seems to be more real than the surroundings.
The pair introduce themselves to the armored dragon (which is much smaller than Vorgulremik's monstrous corpse) and learn that she is the spell which bound the dragon's soul before, and which also has the power to unmake it.
The dragon-spell sees Alptraum as a way of freeing the souls bound within Vorgulremik without destroying them, since he brought along Arkold as proof of his ability to move spirits. Once Alptraum pledges to try and free the captive souls, the spell agrees to help bind Vorgulremik once more, and hides itself in Alptraum's head until the time is right.
