After leaving Olivia in town, Amelia has a run in with a cloaked figure who leaves her a message: meet me on the Mint Road at sunset. At the appointed time, she runs into Gunther, who tells her he's found something that relates to Amelia's ancestor, and that it could affect her as well.

He takes her to a secret room beneath the old tree that was the heart of the Wingnut territory before the dam was built. Inside is a book called 'The binding of the Bloodfur' that details the line of descent from the original Amelia Bloodfur up until Amelia's own great-grandparents. It also details how a group of Kadies would watch each generation for signs of the Bloodfur demon returning, since the first Amelia vowed that her spirit would return.

It's about then that Gunther locks the door, and starts behaving odd. It comes clear that the last of the Crimson Watch had their spirits bound to the room so that they could stand vigil, and possessed Gunther when he stumbled upon it. They vow to remain until the threat of the Bloodfur is gone, which means killing Amelia to end the bloodline, since she's the only remaining female descendant.

Amy is at a disadvantage, since she can't hurt Gunther – who is stronger than her. The fight is going against her, and she has no choice but to find out if she really is the Bloodfur reborn or not, and reaches for the spark of rage inside of her. She's able to use it to extract the controlling spirit from Gunther, but it's an exhausting effort.

Natasha's familiar appears then, and tells her she's passed the test. It had all been set up precisely to provoke her into using the magic within her which she'd been suppressing all of her life – even to the point where she failed as a witch because of it.

Amelia is angry, even with Gunther for volunteering to help with it all, but agrees that she'll train with Natasha later to be able to control the spirit inside of her.

Natasha also relays that Liliana has been missing, and asks for Amy to keep an eye out for her.
