Wanting to get out of the castle after returning from the visit to the gypsies, Tulani changes her clothes and heads into town. She settles at The Catbird Seat cafe, which serves special blended drinks featuring fish – a popular treat among Khattas and Korvs, and the seating reflects the mixed clientèle.

A figure in a dirty white robe is there as well, and introduces himself to Tulani as Mortimer, having been drawn to her by the way she matched the description he heard at Gormless and from the look of the sword on her hip.

There is some casual chatter, as the Reaper works his way towards getting Tulani to admit she was at Gormless and part of the group that defeated the dragon and the necromancer. She eventually does so, and even admits to being the new Light Bearer.

Mort asks about Alptraum next, trying to find out if he's a necromancer as well. Tulani assures him otherwise, and even writes it down for him (leaving out a few personal details), claiming that the Shadow of Amena is no longer a threat.

Alptraum arrives, looking for Tulani, and joins them for a drink. He's a bit wary of Mortimer, but tells him how the Shadow dissolved itself upon learning it was undead.

Everyone departs amicably, and Mort is invited to talk to them each further if he so wishes.
