At the Gypsy camp, Amelia discovers the weird transformation that has befallen Lili, and sobers up Morgan with news of the attack at the dam. The kadies then join Natasha and Bravil and head for the Gnarly Tree.

Once there, they give Isolde a quick rundown on the necromancer (covering up Natasha's previous life as a witch hunter). Olivia arrives soon enough, and cleverly gives Amy a message explaining her predicament with Valicross. Once the witches have set up a ward to prevent magical eavesdropping, the work out how best to use Olivia's situation against the necromancer.
