In the Temple, Leeta goes to tend to her chores for Moffat, but ends up encountering a meeting between the poodle and the Champion of Roses. The poodle, drunk, breaks several things, and Leeta's attempt to quietly slip in draws a threatening reaction from the Champion. The meeting comes to a perhaps premature end, with the knight escorting Leeta out into the hall … and then roughly bandaging the Savanite's wounded hand. The knight asks Leeta who she is, then announces that she has Ibis Leeta's father in her possession.
Out on the steps of the main entrance to the Temple, Leeta is reunited with Ibis aka "Running-River" but the Champion breaks up this reunion to bear them off to Golgotha. At the Sanctuary of Roses, Leeta has more time to try to catch up with her father, but also finds out that the Champion herself has a familiar face as Cloud-Mark. Ibis reveals to Leeta, however, that Cloud-Mark is not her natural sister, but was rather adopted … in a way to replace another sister who "left" long ago. Thus, Leeta's reunion with another sister is somewhat mixed … especially when the Champion indicates that Moffat's plots regarding the Knights Templar are apparently nothing profound whatsoever, and that the Champion might have to take her own life in order to preserve her honor
