Anisa, having slipped away from the airship that would have borne her to Chronotopia, gets aboard an airship, the Sunset Hoof, headed for Half Valley, where she hopes to find her brother. She sneaks another brother aboard – Royce – in a large case, and cringes every time it looks like the stowaway might be discovered.

At last, they make it to their room, and Anisa is able to drop her "air-headed" charade and let her brother out. She goes above-decks, where she meets Wanda, an assertive Skeek who is out to see the world as well. The airship departs from Rephidim … and Anisa and Royce both get airsick on their first voyage away from the sky island.
