An accident has occured moments before Ophelia arrives at Aaron's Apothecary to try and locate a Fire Mage for her promotional idea. The Lapi makes the Countess tea while identifying a likely unemployed candidate – Kelsey Van Kabril, who arrives momments after to check the job board. Some Savanites outside are constructing some kind of display, and finish soon after Brishen enters the shop with a package. The slaves begin to play music, and a little later a riot breaks out with several of the slaves flinging squibbits about the street, and harrassing a poor hapless fox. Kelsey is enthusiastic about the idea of exploding Francisco, though this lessens somewhat when she hears he has to survive. Aaron expresses his thoughts on the great Savanite Conspiracy as the guards arrive to chase off the rioters, and arrest the fox. Kelsey explains the ritual necessities to Ophelia, and the countess agrees to hire her.
