Lancer Eclipse, present in the City of Hands along with many Knights Templar who are helping evacuate Savanites from the city, meets with Priest-Queen Third-Vision and her husband, Born-in-Shame. Third-Vision lets Eclipse know about what has transpired in her life – coming to know the Star, marrying Born-in-Shame, visiting Abaddon, and other things. Third-Vision knows that her time here is limited, but she is the leader of the Savanites, and if they wish to stand and fight rather than flee, then it is her duty to lead them. Eclipse cannot interfere, for Rephidim has opted to stay out of this, and by his duty as a Lancer, he cannot disobey. Third-Vision bids Eclipse take with him the priest Testament-Blaze, and a message for Moon-Brow and her love for Pouncer and Enos. As a token gift, Eclipse imparts a new name to Born-in-Shame: Star's Vision. But at last, as the Lancers depart with the refugees, Eclipse is bound to leave as well, though he watches the whole time, as the City of Hands is destroyed by the Nagai, as his airship departs.
