Rory uses his powers and creates a shadow creen who flies oout and looks around at the area nearby. His messenger finds the valley of the Niton, and the cave of their mother – but a ward has been placed on the cave to prevent anyone from spying upon it. Rory's messenger returns and gives its master a full report of its sightings, which prompts the young Aeonian to question Reece about a few things.
