Dragon, Father and Child reach the Bridge in the dream representation of Envoy's mind, and argue with Mother to help Morpheus. Mother is resistant, and manipulates Dragon out of spite. Probe seems to be almost absorbed by a strange cable-like growth going about the Bridge, and Dragon's attempts to free her seem in vain. Dragon persuades Mother to let her go down to the "surface" with Child, to try to free Morpheus. Dragon and Child go to the Dream Crossroads, and find their way to Morpheus' Prison, finding that the strange shadowy figures around him are statues of the goddesses, and that the statue of Inala holds Morpheus' heart. Dragon and Child go back to the Crossroads, where Dragon witnesses a fox'taur heading off into the realm of Zakaro. They go back to the Bridge, and try to argue with Mother again. Father notices that something is happening in the real world, and it turns out that the ship Envoy is on is being captured, and Wynona is being taken prisoner. Dragon, in desperation, sets the ship to self-destruct. Back in the real world, Envoy drops to the deck, going into convulsions.
