Anisa and her friends are called before Magistrate Whitewhiskers, and Anisa plays dumb about why these suicidal attackers would have been causing this trouble in Half Valley, supposing that they were trying to rob the inn.

Then, Anisa and the others head over to the morgue, where Kurtis has been examining the one slain attacker who didn't "melt". Kurtis discovers a vial of some sort of chemical, magically fused with the man's body, so that with a twist of a tube, the man could kill himself. Thus, it's evident that whatever group Anisa is up against, they have considerable resources.
