Lochinvar, Tock and Matchstick travel to the Gateway Tower in the Forbidden Zone of the Himaat, and from there take the gateway to the world of Arcadia. While Matchstick sets up camp, Lochinvar rescues Tock from some sort of water monster that seems to object to Tock taking a sample of the water in a bottle. After that, Lochinvar and Tock investigate a tree … but the tree seems to be at the very least sentient if not sapient, and just might object to having some leaves or bark plucked off. Lochinvar seems to make a good impression on the trees, though, and, in exchange for one of his feathers, gets some fruits.
